What gives you inspiration?

For me inspiration has not so much to do with some input that causes some output at a later moment. Inspiration takes place at the very moment. I only can feel inspired by the time and place I arrived. Sure, I stay there full of input which is part of my biography, but that’s too complex to describe it. It’s the space itself that inspires me. Since these spaces are very rare I think more and more about creating stages myself.

What are your influences?

I started photographing very lately in my life in the beginning of 2008. Before that I worked several years as an architect, later on until today as a graphic designer. I think these architectonical and graphical fields mostly represent my influences. Furthermore I’m fascinated by the works of Thomas Ruff, Thomas Demand and Takashi Yasumura – to name a few photographers. Other influences come out of the conceptional art of the 60s and 70s and questions about visual conflicts, behaviors in represantation and subjectivity.

Why did you choose these photos?

I think they mostly represent what I’m looking for in photography. What is going to be projected into the visual field is up to the viewer with it’s own ideas of how to experience an area.

What does photography mean to you?

To see what I couldn’t have seen.
