Interview Cristobal Marquez

Photography is like my third eye and my second voice.

Name: Cristobal Marquez (Tobalo)
Hometown: Bochum / Germany
Type of camera(s): My favourite ones: Rolleiflex Automat, Holga, Lubitel 166 B, Olympus XA, Polaroid and Nikon D50
Website: www.tobalo.de , Flickr

What gives you inspiration?

My inspiration comes from anything that surrounds me or anything that is on my mind and what I perceive. These things usually still go through my mind when I’m asleep. If I’m lucky, one of these impressions turns into a practical idea. It may happen or not. Scenes just catch my eye, I’m not really looking for them.

What are your influences?

I especially love to meet people having a similar concept of photography as I do. This often helps me to see things from a different angle and to try out something new. Sometimes it’s already enough to walk through the world with open eyes.

Why did you choose these photos?

More or less by coincidence.

What does photography mean to you?

It’s like my third eye and my second voice.
