Interview Taylor Paige Reynolds
Photography is telling a story without words.

Name: Taylor Paige Reynolds
Hometown: Huntingon, West Virginia. I am hoping to move away from here to go to college after I graduate this coming spring. I like it here, but I don’t think it is a place I would like to stay in for the rest of my life.
Style of Photography: I am not sure that I have even developed a style yet. I am young and only a year into taking pictures. If I had a style I don’t know if I could put it into words.
Type of Camera(s): Nikon D200 that I bought from my boyfriend and then he let me borrow a 35mm. I haven’t taken many photos with film yet, but I like to try things and see how they turn out.

What gives you inspiration?
I think what inspires me the most are the people around me and the places I see. Natural light also inspires me. I love when I am taking a picture of someone and I run into the perfect shadow that is cast by an object or a ray of light hitting the face perfectly.
What are your influences?
Philip Lorca diCorcia is an influence. He is one of my favorite photographers that I have came across. I also like Noah Kalina’s photos a lot. The way he uses light and has shadows on his models sometimes is interesting to see. There are so many more artist that influence me that are photographers and some that are not. Many of my influences, though, are my peers. The people my age or a little older that I come across and are doing the same thing as me. My boyfriend, Nathan Ward, has helped me learn so much.(flickr.com/nathan_ward) When I first met him and we were just friends, I had just bought my first camera shortly before, but I had no idea how to go about taking photos. He encouraged me more than anyone else did. He told me to keep trying new things so I did. I’m not amazing now, but I keep noticing a gradual improvement in what I take. I keep wanting to better myself even further and he has taught me that if I keep trying and thinking and imagining that I can do it.
Why did you choose these photos?
I kind of choose them at random. The one of the girl laying down with shadows the fence on her face, well that is a self portrait. I choose it because it the only self portrait of myself that I have liked. I am more comfortable taking photos than being in them. I let Nathan take my picture though because I trust him. The other photos I have just developed a like for. I am usually so critical of my photos, but those are ones that I am sure I like.
What does photography mean to you?
It is telling a story without words or sometimes it is just showing something that you find beautiful or maybe not so beautiful to everyone else.
