What gives you inspiration?
It should be so easy to answer that question, but it is very difficult. I suppose I feel inspired by a certain mood from strangers and my friends – a very basic thing to feel inspired by I guess. Often I don’t know what inspires me, or feels interesting when I take the picture. But later on when I look at the photo a several times. So it can be something beautiful or ugly that inspires me.
What are your influences?
My girlfriend has a great affect on my work. Besides her, experiences, traveling, conversations with interesting people, music, movies, books – anything that I absorb that lingers in my mind. Of course I’m influenced by other photographers, such as Ryan McGinley, Richard Avedon, Robert Capa as well as different more “unknown” photographers.
Why did you choose these photos?
Different photos from my portfolio. They show different sides of my work, but they’re not my favorites.
What does photography mean to you?
I have always been very visually minded so it’s big a part of me. I like the thought of creating a story in a way that is told via a photo. I like the poetic thought of capturing a moment forever. I don’t think photographers are that different from other type of artists. I show the world what I experience or contain of different thoughts, as well as e.g. a writer or painter. It’s just a different use of tools and way of publishing. Some people use a brush, others a pencil. I use a camera.
