Photography is my favorite way of expressing myself.

Style of photography: I mostly take self-portraits and portraits of the people close to me.

What gives you inspiration?
I travel back and forth a lot between my hometown (Amsterdam) and my boyfriend’s hometown (Gothenburg). Being in between places all the time, missing each other, loneliness, but also appreciating the moments we have together, really make me want to express myself in ways that I can’t express in words.
What are your influences?
Curiosity and wanting to learn. I’m only a beginning photographer so I’m trying out all sorts of different things. I don’t know much about the technical aspects of photography but I know what I want to show people when I take a photo. Besides that I also find it really motivating that people are responding well to what I do. I get so happy when I receive emails from people saying they like what I do and that they can relate to my photos.
Why did you choose these photos?
I chose these because they all represent recent moments and themes in my life that are important to me.
What does photography mean to you?
It’s my favorite way of expressing myself. I take photos cause I feel that they say more than words. If I feel sad, I’d rather take a photo than write about being sad. If I am bursting with love, I’d rather express it in a photo than talk about it. It’s a way for me to deal with these feelings and to share them with the rest of the world.
