What gives you inspiration?

Spaces and environments that offer something to me, I’m not speaking about aesthetics but of metaphors that relate back to some element of our lives. I’m not interested in creating images showing my experiences or journey but the conscience, journey and experiences that we all have in our daily environment and I feel that space as a subject offers this to me more than people.

What are your influences?

Jeff Wall is perhaps my greatest influence but others that have influenced me include, Gregory Crewdson, Nigel Shafran, Candida Hofer, Sophy Rickett, Michael Wolf and Andreas Gursky.

Why did you choose these photos?

I sometimes have a problem with the word photograph being attached to my work. I feel images a more appropriate term despite the fact that I use a camera to create my images and many of them contain qualities inherit to the photographic medium. These images don’t necessarily represent a particular place but a metaphor for a space or environment that is very familiar to the viewer.

What does photography mean to you?

The opportunity to visually express philosophies leading towards a greater understanding of people, environments and the world around us.
