What gives you inspiration?
A look. A face. The sea. My bulldog.
What are your influences?
Tons of stuff (not in a specific order): David Lynch, John Cassavettes, Andrej Tarkovskij, Christopher Doyle, Chris Cunningham, Jonas Mekas, Hollis Frampton, Glenn Ligon, Sophie Calle, Sigmund Freud, Walter Benjamin, Gilles Deleuze, Bon Iver, Vincent Gallo, Alva Noto, James Joyce, Hildegard Knef, The Simpsons.
Why did you choose these photos?
They are part of my ongoing portrait project- starting with my closest friends I am now casting strangers- so it’s more about the process and the relationship around the setting then just the photo itself. Every face is a beginning of a story and the same with places, in which memories condensate.
What does photography mean to you?
It’s all about the look. Something haptical. Getting in touch with someone- through the camera, for a fragile moment. This vibration within you and me. That’s the picture.
