What gives you inspiration?

The best feeling is when I get a good roll back from the lab. It drives me to shoot so much more. Usually my biggest inspiration is right in front of me, I’ll be laying in bed and see some really pretty light falling on my girlfriend and just shoot it. Lately I have been trying to just bring everything back to basic photography, no flashy angles or crazy content. Just pleasing photos.

What are your influences?

I get most of my influence from the lighting around me. If it doesn’t look pleasing and pretty to my eyes, then the chances of the photo being pretty are slim. I also love looking through my contacts on Flickr and seeing techniques that they use, and try to incorporate some of their style into my own. Sometimes I will walk down to the book store and open one of the photo books and look through that, try to use something that was good 20 years ago.

Why did you choose these photos?

These pictures in my opinion explain my style of shooting pretty well. Centered portraits with some pleasing light. They are also the photos that I am most proud of out of my portfolio. They will give you a good understanding of what I like to do.

What does photography mean to you?

I like shooting photos because it allows me to see people and things in a way that I never have before. And It is the only thing that I truly love to do, I never stuck with anything I tried, but photography was the first thing that stuck.
