What gives you inspiration?

I find inspiration in both psychology and philosophy. There’s a mental disorder that really fascinates me: “Depersonalization”. People suffering from this feel as if they are “unreal”. This “being here” and “being absent” at the same time inspires me. From a philosophical point of view, the search for inner peace also moves me: finding yourself by losing yourself (again, a contradiction).

What are your influences?

I really like Dutch photographer Hellen van Meene. Hopper’s paintings (such profound loneliness…). And the work of Michaël Borremans.

Why did you choose these photos?

I chose these images from the series “Stranger to Myself”, I think they best represent the series and I like them…

What does photography mean to you?

I feel like this is what I should be doing, I can not imagine doing anything else.
